My wonderful husband is such a sneak! Ever since December, he has been plotting and scheming and I had no idea what he was up to. He had been trying to give me me tickets for Christmas for a concert of a group that I absolutely love and turned him on to as well, Celtic Woman; but his plans kept getting foiled. Eventually, he went ahead and got the tickets for seats as close to the stage as he could get us before they ran out.

If you aren't familiar with them, they are an amazing group of Irish women who's performances can be seen on LPB. I have been watching this on LPB for some time now, and once my husband started watching them, he became just as fascinated with them as I was. Needless to say, when we discovered they were touring in our state in April, he decided that would be an excellent Christmas present for me. What he was trying to do was get us as close to the stage as he could, which kept delaying the ticket purchase, until he suddenly saw seats fill up with the blink of an eye. He was going to keep this a secret, except this past weekend they were on LPB again and he came in from outside and saw me watching it. They kept flashing the Tour Date on the screen, and since he had already told me he was taking me to New Orleans that same weekend, he figured I might put it all together, so he gave in and popped into the living room with tickets in hand.
The concert is going to be my very first concert attendance, and I personally am so very excited about getting to see them live~! It is sure to be an experience that I am never going to forget! As my husband's birthday is tomorrow, mine is at the beginning of April and our 1 Year Anniversary is the middle of May, my husband has decided to make a weekend of it, including a trip to New Orleans afterwards to celebrate all of the afore mentioned celebrations together. We also never took a Honeymoon, so this will encompas all of the above.
I am still amazed that he has gone to such lengths to pull something so very special off, not that it is surprising in the least, just that I am not used to it.
Yippee! Whooray! It would appear that Spring has officially sprung given the evidence in my quaint little town! The trees are blooming and the birds are chirping! Yesterday evening after work, my hubby and I decided to take our kids to the park and let them run off some pent up energy.
I am truly not sure which of us were more exhausted by the end of it; us or them.

Playing with Sadie in the grass! She's my baby girl. 85lbs of pure love & humor!
My wonderful hubby is so good with our kiddo's, this photo is just so Dog Whisperish to me...
Today, my hubby sent me pics of the trees that decorate the courtyard at the Courthouse where he works and I have to say that the beautiful blue sky made the perfect backdrop for those beautifully blooming tree branches!
We are thinking that this weekend will be a good one to go out and trek about the countryside and see if we can capture awesome pictures as spring begins! While I normally am a fan of Winter, I have suddenly discovered that I am quite anxious for Spring/Summer to be upon us at last.
PS. Don't forget "Spring Forward" it's that time again...Saturday night...
This past weekend we traveled to our favorite nearest "big" City to run a few errands and while we were there, we decided to add to our trip a visit to PetCo. We had our beloved Sadie with us who turned plenty of heads and got tons of attention. While we were there, we happened upon this curious little fellow.
Now the reason I say curious little fellow, you will soon see by the attached videos. The reason I decided to record him was because he was doing silly little things, like grabbing his beak and pulling himself down to the floor, laying on his back and doing "flips" for lack of a better description. Of course, he did none of these funny things while I was recording him. But we were quite entertained with him none the less.
In this video you'll notice him go to one side of the cage and start bobbing up and down. The reason this was so funny was because he went to where my husband was standing and my husband was bobbing up and down and the little critter was mimicking him.
If you are wondering what kind of bird this is, it is a Conure and the selling price for him was $599.99. Definitely a little steep but he was still an entertaining little guy, which as you can tell from our giggles, he amused us. We left him at the store but we have this video to enjoy from our weekend visit.
Thanks for stopping by...
As the years move forward, it only stands to reason that certain expectations with regard to holidays will shift. Valentine's Day for instance is a holiday that traditionally is shared by Husbands/Wives, Girlfriends/Boyfriends as marked on the calendar as a date set aside out of the year for them to dote on one another and shower each other with gifts which is suppose to make them feel like they are loved.
Being older, I realize that while Valentine's Day is indeed a "Romantic" holiday for many, for me, it simply has no meaning. Why you might ask? Well, I prefer that my husband (in this instance) shows his love for me by the little things he does for me every day rather than one day out of the year because the predetermined day on the calendar says he's suppose to. And well, I am lucky enough to have a husband who does indeed show his love for me each and every day of the year in small ways and big ones alike. So again, for me, it's just a day on the calendar.
This year, we went to see my mom, who's "Valentine" (my dad) passed away 19 years ago. She was spending Valentine's Day alone. No one to dote on her with gifts and such, which is as it has been since he passed away. I called her in the morning and she was so playful, almost childlike during our conversation, that we decided to go pay her a visit. We had a wonderfully splendid visit with her for Valentine's Day, going out and getting take-out Pizza for her (it's what she wanted), and we also brought her some Mardi-Gras beads since she doesn't get out to go to the parades. She loved them so much, when we returned from picking up the take-out Pizza, she had put some around her neck.
Mom got to talk to my daughter on the phone too because she had called me while we were there and mom was so excited to get to talk to her on Valentine's Day. All in all, it is fair to say that everyone had a special and more importantly, memorable day without all the hooplah of flowers, candy or balloons.
Here in Louisiana it is a time of festiveness as Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) is surely upon us. Today is suppose to be the day where the biggest and baddest parades can be found all around. Such as in New Orleans, Lafayette or Lake Charles just to name a few.
The weather I fear is not cooperating with us very much these days and while Saturday, my husband & I went to our local parade and we had a blast it was far too cold. We had decided earlier in the week that if the weather would be bad; meaning wet and cold, we would fore go attending the parades because we simply didn't feel up to getting sick just to attend the parades. Saturday did indeed grace us with sunshine and no wetness, merely cold, I was far too busy taking pictures to share with my family and friends to notice that the feelings in my fingers were becoming numb. But I had such a grand time taking the pictures and seeing people I knew in the parade that it was a small price to pay at the time. My wonderful hubby had the treat of catching all the beads that came our way since my hands were otherwise occupied, and with each bead or batch of beads that he caught, he lovingly placed them around my neck.

When we got home...I decided to test out our beloved Sadie to see how she would handle Mardi Gras beads. It was no surprise that she tolerated them just fine.
Today's weather it would seem is even colder than that of our Saturday's weather, so we are giving some serious contemplation on whether we want to attend the big parade in Lake Charles tonight. While I love the energy of the people as they engage in the festivities and the beautiful floats and the sounds of the music on various floats; I'm just not sure I'm up to a night in the cold. In preparation for our possible absence, I started dinner when I got up this morning. A good pot of red beans and rice will surely keep us warm should we decide to head out to the parade later today, but we shall indeed see.
